Bluetooth failures almost always come from a stale pairing record: the phone remembers the device one way, the device remembers the phone another, and neither will budge. A clean re-pair on both sides fixes the vast majority of cases.
The other common cause is that the accessory is still connected to a different device — a laptop, a tablet, a partner's phone — and simply will not talk to anyone else.

Disconnect other devices
Turn off Bluetooth on nearby laptops and tablets, or disconnect the accessory from them. Many earbuds and speakers connect to the last device they used automatically.

Forget the device
On your phone or computer, open Bluetooth settings, tap the accessory, and choose "Forget this device" or "Unpair".

Reset the accessory
Most headphones and speakers have a factory reset — often holding the power or pairing button for 10–15 seconds, or holding the case button with earbuds inside until a light flashes. Check the manufacturer's support page for the exact sequence.

Put it into pairing mode and pair fresh
Pairing mode is usually shown by a flashing light. Then scan from your phone or computer and select it. Keep the two devices close together while pairing.

Update software on both sides
Install system updates on the phone or computer, and firmware updates for the accessory through its companion app. Bluetooth compatibility fixes are common.

For cars, clear both lists
Car systems hold a limited list of paired phones. Delete your phone from the car's list and the car from your phone, then pair again from the car's menu.

Windows
If the device is paired but has no sound, check the output device in the volume menu on the taskbar.
Android
Settings → System → Reset options → "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth" is a last resort; it forgets all saved networks too.
Stop it happening again
Keep accessory firmware updated through the companion app.
Remove old paired devices you no longer use.
Turn off Bluetooth on devices you are not using near your main one.
When to get professional help
If the accessory will not enter pairing mode at all, shows no lights when charged, or only one earbud ever connects after a reset, contact the manufacturer — it may be a hardware fault covered by warranty.
